More Work?!

Posted: October 18, 2011 in Uncategorized

Yes…again, nothing that most of you aren’t already doing.  The bottom line is that you guys have the most potential out of any group I’ve ever coached, so of course expectations are going to be higher.  That’s a compliment, btw.  You’re welcome. 🙂

First, before I get to the details, check out some random footage of our preseason training:

This will be the last bit of outside work you’ll be required to do, and it runs similar to the Mob Wod piece.  Another video, another time sharing it with the group, will only take a few minutes, the only difference is that this time its a wrestling video rather than a video on flexibility.

You will be watching technique videos on Flowrestling and selecting one to present to the team.

Here are the details:

1) go to and hit “login” in the upper right hand corner.

2) Type in our team ID: rdb268 and the password: “capowres” (all lower case).

3) Click on “technique wave” in the green band in the center of the page.

4) Select a video to watch (preferrably 3 or 4 videos, just in case someone else presents on your preferred video before you do, you have a backup), and watch it.  If you are weak in one area or are looking for something specific, you can use the search tools to the left to hone in on a specific video…search well, don’t just choose the first video listed on the page.

5) Learn the technique in the video and present it to the team on your assigned day (a sign up sheet for presentation days will go out Tuesday in 6th period).

6) IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN THE NAME OF THE TECHNICIAN, AND WHERE HE’S FROM.  You must have this piece of info on your presentation day.  This ensures that you aren’t merely getting something from your head, but are actually watching the videos.  We paid for a subscription.  Might as well use it.

The technique wave is a huge library of videos of world class wrestlers teaching their bread and butter technique.  World champs.  Olympic champs.  Russians.  Americans.  NCAA champs.  NCAA champion coaches.  Its great stuff and you should devour it daily, even apart from this whole “assignment.”

This presentation will be worth approx 15 points of your grade for 6th period.
