Head Coach Rich Bordner

Head Coach Rich Bordner, the South Coast League Coach of the Year in 2012 and Sea View League Coach of the Year in 2016, begins his eighth year at the helm of Capo Wrestling.  His previous coaching experience includes a two year stint as assistant coach at Dominguez High School in Compton, and one year as head freshman coach at Dublin Coffman high school in Columbus, Ohio.  His competitive career spanned 15 years.  After placing third in the state at Jefferson City High School in Jefferson City, Missouri, He wrestled for Ohio State for five years, lettering twice.  After graduating Magna Cum Laude from OSU with degrees in English and Philosophy, he moved to Southern California in 2003 to pursue a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, which he completed in May 0f 2013.  He lives in Mission Viejo with his wife Ezichi, and their daughters, Amara, who was born June 2011, and Zara, born in June 2014.

Assistant Coach Josh Resnick

Josh is in his second season as an on campus coach at Capo. Josh–a Special Education teacher at Capo–hails from Wisconsin, where he was a freestyle and greco state champ.  He is also a Judo black belt, competing on the national team from 1991-2004.  He has been married for 15 years and has three children.

 

Assistant Coach Brian Shackleford

“Papa” Shack is in his third season as a Capo assistant. Prior to coaching for Capo he coached forever. He is older than dirt. He coached Abe Lincoln.

Assistant Coach Scott Schepens

Schepens

Scott is in his second year coaching for Capo.  He also coaches football and track and is on campus as a social science teacher.  Previously he was head coach of Anaheim high school. He played football for Chapman University and wrestled in high school at Costa Mesa high school.

Assistant Coach Michael Youssef

Coach Youssef was a four year wrestler for Capo Valley, graduating in 2016.  He was a two-time team captain, two time league champion and two time CIF qualifier.  He was widely recognized as one of the hardest workers on the team, logging many hours of training year round, in season and off.  He is in his first year as a college student at Saddleback College.
